Guest Editor’s Note

Hello, everyone. I am honored to serve as guest editor of Issue 191. This special issue explores the ten-year journey of Women Techmakers, a scholarship program supporting women engineers and technologists. It was thoughtfully created with contributions from three outstanding Women Techmakers recipients who are passionate about technology and gender equality and have achieved remarkable success in their fields.

In 2015, I served on the Women Techmakers Alumni APAC Regional Committee, advocating for the mission of achieving 50/50 gender balance in technology workplaces by 2020. Through this experience, I met Professor Chiari Wu, founding president of TWiST, along with many accomplished women in technology. Looking back over the past decade, this issue highlights former Women Techmakers scholarship recipients and explores their efforts and achievements in technology.

Women Techmakers is a Google-supported global program and community dedicated to advancing gender equality and promoting women’s participation and leadership in technology. It aims to create an environment where women can pursue excellence while reducing gender inequality. The scholarship supports outstanding women undergraduate and graduate students in technology-related fields while promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion.

The program was formerly known as the Google Anita Borg Memorial Scholarship and later became the Google Women Techmakers Scholarship. We encourage readers to share this opportunity with young women in their communities.
