OPTIC 2026 Optoelectronics Teaching Aid Design Competition – Call for Entries

Optoelectronic technology is widely used in fields such as display screens, fiber optic communications, and medical equipment. How can the generation, control, and detection of light be transformed into teaching aids that are easy for secondary school students to understand and that they are willing to explore through hands-on activities?
The "OPTIC 2026 Optoelectronic Teaching Aids Creation Competition" invites domestic university students and graduate students to form teams to design optical teaching aids that combine scientific content, educational value, creativity, and presentation skills, so that optoelectronic knowledge can enter the science education scene in a more vivid way.
To prepare for the competition, please keep the following key points in mind:
▌Each team must have a maximum of 4 students and invite 1 teacher to serve as an instructor.
▌Registration requires the submission of instruction manuals in both Chinese and English.
▌Both Chinese and English introductory videos must be produced, each with a maximum length of 5 minutes.
▌Teams that pass the written review will present their teaching aids on-site and be judged.
▌The intellectual property rights of the submitted works remain with the participants; the organizers and sponsors retain the rights to promote the works and their content. ▌Recent graduates who participated in the creation of teaching aids during their studies can apply for eligibility by submitting their personal information and a written explanation from their instructor.
The Taiwan Women in Technology Association, one of the co-organizers of this competition, plans to subsidize the public transportation costs for female team members selected for the on-site competition to travel across county/city to the venue; male team members in mixed-gender teams will also receive subsidies. Subsidized transportation includes High Speed Rail, Taiwan Railways, and buses, but does not include private transportation such as taxis and Uber.
Students interested in optics, science education, or teaching aid design are welcome to find partners to transform their professional knowledge into works that are practical, easy to understand, and can stimulate learning interest.
