Among the 24 appointed members of the National Climate Change Committee, established by President Lai Ching-te, three are TWiST board members. Sophia Cheng, Senior Advisor at Cathay Financial Holdings and Chair of the Asia Investor Group on Climate Change, and Lydia Lin, Executive Director of the Taiwan Artificial Intelligence Association, were appointed as industry representatives. Professor Huey-Jen Su of National Cheng Kung University was appointed as an expert and academic representative.
The National Climate Change Committee was established in response to the increasing frequency of natural disasters caused by climate change. By bringing together expertise from industry, government, academia, and research institutions, the committee seeks to strengthen Taiwan’s preparedness for rapidly changing extreme weather, protect lives and property, and support the country’s continued development.
Extreme weather and frequent natural disasters are shared challenges facing modern society. As a women’s organization representing the science and technology sectors, TWiST serves as a bridge between government, academia, and industry while promoting diversity, inclusion, and innovation. Drawing on its members’ professional expertise, TWiST looks forward to contributing further to the public good.
