July 5 - 8, 2024 | Marie Curie Science Camp: AI - Prospects and Challenges

The 2024 Marie Curie Science Camp, held from July 5 to 8, 2024, at National Taiwan Normal University’s Linkou Campus, concluded successfully. Initiated to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Marie Skłodowska-Curie receiving the Nobel Prize in Chemistry and to help young students discover how closely science relates to everyday life, the camp was established through the advocacy of Academician Yuan T. Lee and the joint efforts of leading scholars and business leaders in Taiwan. Now in its 14th year, the 2024 camp focused on “Artificial Intelligence: Prospects and Challenges.”

In addition to accessible lectures by distinguished scientists, the program invited accomplished business leaders and humanities experts to give presentations and participate in discussions, sharing their management philosophies and experiences. Students also joined hands-on science experiments and visited advanced research institutions and companies.

The Marie Curie Science Camp primarily welcomes young students interested in chemistry, physics, and mathematics, while reserving a limited number of places for junior and senior high school teachers. The camp encourages science educators to develop innovative approaches, introduce students to the relevance and excitement of science in everyday life, and enhance teaching quality and learning outcomes.

Over the years, TWiST has organized and supported numerous student camps as part of its continuing commitment to STEM education. Encouraging and cultivating women’s participation in STEM remains a central mission of the association. By giving students opportunities to discover and experience STEM, TWiST hopes they will one day thrive in STEM-related fields.
