CEDAW General Recommendation No. 30 addresses the roles of women in conflict prevention and during conflict and post-conflict situations. It emphasizes the importance of women’s participation throughout armed conflict—from prevention and preparedness to response and post-conflict recovery. Its recommendations provide a framework for Taiwan to assess its current readiness for potential conflict.
This half-day hybrid forum, accommodating 50 in-person and 200 online participants, will introduce CEDAW General Recommendation No. 30 and invite experts and scholars to discuss its relevance to Taiwan.
The event aims to encourage women’s organizations and civil defense groups in Taiwan to establish regional strategic alliances and contribute to civil defense efforts. It will also promote and monitor the government’s implementation of the CEDAW Enforcement Act, supporting a gender-mainstreamed, whole-of-society defense resilience network.
