DuPont Women’s Network × TWiST × National Center for Instrumentation Research: “2025 STEM Milestone - STEM Exploration Camp”

In an era of rapid technological development, STEM—science, technology, engineering, and mathematics—has become a starting point for many young women exploring their futures. To provide greater guidance and support as they choose academic fields and careers, TWiST and DuPont jointly organized the “STEM Milestone—STEM Exploration Camp” in summer 2025. Through practical activities and personal stories, the camp created a learning journey designed for female students.
STEM has become a field where increasing numbers of young women can participate, explore, and demonstrate their talents. However, choosing a high school track, university major, or future career can still bring uncertainty. The camp therefore brought together female high school students from across Taiwan, providing them with professional resources, support, and an inspiring hands-on learning experience.
Discovering the Power of Women in Technology Through Their Stories
Host Ozzy Wang opened the program by guiding participants into the world of STEM. TWiST President Jui-Hua Hung then introduced the Taiwan Women in Science and Technology Association.
Founded on October 30, 2011, TWiST is a nonprofit organization committed to supporting women who remain underrepresented in technology. By encouraging professional exchange, collaboration, and intergenerational knowledge-sharing, TWiST helps women demonstrate their insight, resilience, and creativity in diverse, equitable, and inclusive environments.
Tracy Hsu, Human Resources Director at DuPont Taiwan, then shared her career journey. She encouraged students to identify their core values and courageously take important steps when opportunities arise.
Hsu also introduced DuPont’s technological strengths and sustainability strategies. Through photographs of company activities, she demonstrated how DuPont puts its people-centered values into practice through employee care and corporate social responsibility.


Technology Knowledge × Practical Applications
To help students better understand STEM industries, the camp partnered with the National Center for Instrumentation Research. Dr. Shu-Ju Tsai presented “Sensor Manufacturing Principles and an Introduction to Semiconductor Processes,” explaining sensor operation and semiconductor development in an accessible way.
A key feature of the camp was combining theory with practice. Researcher Yi-Cheng Lin designed an Arduino sensor activity in which students connected circuits and conducted tests themselves, bringing scientific concepts to life through hands-on experience.


Honest and Encouraging Experiences from Student Mentors
One of the students’ favorite sessions was a discussion with three DuPont Taiwan summer interns: Annie Wang, who studies International Economic Relations at a university in the United States; Jerry Wu, a Mechanical Engineering student at National Taiwan University; and Kyra Chien, a Chemical and Materials Engineering student at National Kaohsiung University of Science and Technology.
They openly discussed choosing high school tracks and university majors, internship experiences, career planning, uncertainty, and discovering their interests. Their honest stories reassured participants that feeling uncertain about the future is a natural part of everyone’s journey.

Positive Feedback and Results
Post-event surveys showed that more than 94% of participants hoped to attend similar programs in the future. Students shared comments such as:
“The mentors’ stories made me feel less uncertain about my future.”
“This was my first opportunity to understand the semiconductor industry in such depth.”
“The experience-sharing session was extremely helpful because I rarely have opportunities like this.”


Girls, Explore the World of Technology with Confidence
This camp was more than a single event—it was a starting point. It introduced students to the many possibilities within technology and showed them that, regardless of their backgrounds, passion and initiative can help everyone find a place in STEM.
We look forward to creating more opportunities that encourage young women to pursue their dreams and open the door to their own STEM futures.
