The observance promotes the equal participation of women and girls in science education, employment, and decision-making; seeks to eliminate discrimination and overcome legal, economic, social, and cultural barriers; and recognizes women’s achievements in science.
This year’s assembly is themed “Women and Girls in Science Leadership, a New Era for Sustainability: Think Science ... Think Peace.” It supports efforts to achieve and accelerate progress toward SDG 16: Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals.
