2025 Women in Science and Technology Conference Concludes Successfully: AI Empowers Diversity and Sustainability and Leads the Future of Technology

The 2025 Women in Science and Technology Conference was successfully held at National Chung Hsing University on March 8. The conference was jointly organized by the Taiwan Women in Science and Technology Association (TWiST), National Chung Hsing University, and the Chinese Institute of Engineers.

Under the theme “Equity and Inclusion, Powering a Green Future: AI-Empowered Diversity and Sustainability,” the conference brought together experts from government, academia, and industry to explore how artificial intelligence (AI) can advance green technologies, foster diversity and inclusion, and contribute to sustainable development.

Harnessing AI for Sustainability and Exploring Cross-Disciplinary Innovation

The conference brought together experts and scholars to examine the applications and impact of AI across a wide range of fields.

Professor Yi-Hsin Chen of National Tsing Hua University spoke on “AI and Education,” sharing how artificial intelligence can help promote gender equality, expand learning opportunities, and support a more equitable distribution of educational resources.

Professor Chia-Chen Wang of National Sun Yat-sen University discussed the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Inner Development Goals (IDGs), examining how technological development can advance alongside social equity and environmental sustainability.

Pei-Chun Chen, Chief Technology Officer of the Microsoft Taiwan AI R&D Center, explored the implementation of sustainable AI. She discussed how diversity and inclusion can enhance the trustworthiness and innovative capacity of AI and introduced applications of AI in environmental protection and social development.

Mei-Yin Chou, Vice President of Academia Sinica, focused on Taiwan’s challenge of achieving net-zero emissions by 2050. She examined key technologies for the energy transition and discussed how AI can contribute to net-zero technologies, intelligent energy management, and carbon-reduction solutions.

Hsiang-Ni Wu, Assistant Vice President at Cathay Financial Holdings, discussed applications of AI in financial technology. She explained how AI can strengthen data analysis, optimize decision-making processes, and promote smarter and more sustainable financial development.

Professor Ching-Mei Chu of National Taiwan University provided an in-depth examination of AI applications in affective intelligence, including emotion recognition and emotionally responsive chatbots. She also discussed how AI could play a greater role in human interaction, education, and mental health.

General Manager Ya-Hui Yang approached the subject from the perspective of health technology, discussing how personalized digital-twin technologies for health can improve human well-being and advance precision medicine and health management.

The conference also featured two roundtable discussions, “Women’s Empowerment × AI × Green Energy” and “Leadership in the Age of AI.” Experts from academia and industry exchanged perspectives on using AI to drive corporate sustainability and strengthen leadership and decision-making in an era of digital transformation.力。

Creating a Supportive Environment for Women in STEM

To enable participants to engage fully in the conference, this year’s event featured the “Women in STEM Superheroes: Baby Day Camp.” Childcare services were provided by the College of Innovation and Industry Liaison at National Chung Hsing University, allowing participants attending with young children to focus on the conference with greater peace of mind.

The conference also organized laboratory visits for senior high school students, giving young learners an opportunity to experience science and technology firsthand and encouraging greater interest in AI and sustainable development.
