2024.8.23 Women in Technology AI Insights Lecture Series - Taipei

The Taipei session of the Women in Technology AI Insights Lecture Series concluded successfully on August 23, 2024, at the second-floor auditorium of the Molecular Science and Engineering Building at National Taipei University of Technology.

The event addressed two main topics. The first explored the influence of AI and ESG transformation, beginning with the example of AMD Chair and CEO Dr. Lisa Su. Speakers discussed how society can respond to the AI revolution, the new roles women can play during major industrial transformations, and how women’s workplace opportunities and conditions can be improved.

The second topic focused on trust and estate planning. Drawing on professional case experience, the speaker introduced practical knowledge about trusts and explained that personal assets do not necessarily need to be passed down only to sons. Instead, they can be managed and distributed in more thoughtful ways. Participants were encouraged to plan early for a fulfilling life, dignified aging, and the future transfer of their assets.

Promoted through TWiST networks, campus posters, and announcements from co-organizing communities such as Dashu and the ESG Academy, the event attracted participants of different ages and professional backgrounds. Its interdisciplinary focus broadened attendees’ understanding of AI, ESG, and wealth management.

The presentation on women’s emerging roles in AI and ESG examined AI’s transformative impact on the workplace, how ESG-driven business transformation can help women break through the glass ceiling, and the opportunities and challenges women face in an era of advanced technology and net-zero development. The session on wealth transfer introduced useful tools and concepts for financial and estate planning. Together, these topics brought people from different fields together to exchange ideas.

The event also increased awareness of TWiST through promotional materials, venue displays, and outreach to faculty and students in molecular science and engineering at Taipei Tech. Participants actively asked questions, exchanged experiences, and built connections that may become a source of future mutual support.

TWiST has long worked to promote collaboration, knowledge-sharing, and professional development among women who remain underrepresented in technology. By building networks for exchange, mentorship, and mutual support, the association hopes women can demonstrate their insight, resilience, and creativity within diverse, equitable, and inclusive environments.
