TWiST Hosts “Embarking on Your Career Journey” Panel to Support Young Professionals

On August 19, 2024, the Taiwan Women in Science and Technology Association (TWiST) held the “Embarking on Your Career Journey” panel discussion at the Fullon Hotel Lihpao Resort in Taichung. The event attracted 74 participants and featured three industry leaders: Kuan-Yu Peng, CEO of the TSMC Charity Foundation; S.Y. Sheen, Director of TSMC’s Intelligent Manufacturing Center; and Dr. Renay Su, Application Manager for Advanced Circuit and Packaging at DuPont. They shared their career experiences and practical advice to help young people prepare for entering the workplace.

Practical Insights into Networking and Career Competitiveness

The discussion focused on three topics: the value of professional networks, improving work efficiency, and strengthening career competitiveness. Representing Women@tsmc and the DuPont Women’s Network, S.Y. Sheen and Dr. Renay Su shared their experiences participating in professional communities. They explained how these networks can increase workplace influence and create opportunities for personal growth. Chih-Lu Chiang, a student representative from National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University, also discussed the transition from university to professional life.

Supporting Gender Diversity and the Next Generation in STEM

TWiST is committed to narrowing the gender gap in STEM and encouraging the exchange of knowledge and experience across generations. Through their personal stories, the speakers encouraged students to remain confident, pursue their goals, and contribute to gender equality and diversity in the workplace.

Interactive Discussion Strengthens Career Readiness

The panel used an informal and interactive format, allowing participants to ask questions and engage directly with the speakers. The enthusiastic feedback from students reflected the event’s success. It also increased awareness and support for TWiST’s efforts to advance women’s participation and development in STEM.
