About the Project
With support from the International Network of Women Engineers and Scientists (INWES), other INWES members, and researchers, the Association of Korean Woman Scientists and Engineers (KWSE) began conducting the Gender in Science and Engineering (GISE) Gender Barriers Survey across the Asia-Pacific region in 2014.
The survey expanded to include Africa in 2018. In 2021, INWES and KWSE collaborated to extend the survey to regions worldwide.
Through this research, INWES and KWSE aim to develop a meaningful gender indicator for comparing STEM environments across countries and regions. The indicator may also serve as a practical tool for advancing gender equality in STEM.
Supporting this mission, the Taiwan Women in Science and Technology Association (TWiST) took the initiative to create a Traditional Chinese version of the survey in 2022. This will help share the experiences and working environment of women in technology in Taiwan with the international community.
