INWES Newsletter No.40
Dear Members of INWES,
What will the year 2024 hold for the world and you? We earnestly hope that for everyone, 2024 will be a year of boundless peace, tranquility, and joy. Starting in 2024, we are changing the format of the INWES Newsletter. To replace the printed newsletter, we intend to print an Annual Report at the end of the year, and we are looking at options of new tools to help us send you Newsletters in the format you prefer. In the meantime, we are sending to you links to our latest news items and articles that feature in our website. Welcome to our Newsletter No.40! 1. INWES has observer status with UNFCCC, the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, and we attend the COP, Conference of the Parties, every year. The INWES-KWSE International Project - Perceptions of Gender barriers In Science and Engineering (GISE) - Final report During 2023 we held a final webinar for the GISE project as part of CSW67 NGO CSW NY Forum (see https://www.inwes.org/csw67-a-final-inwes-event-on-17-march-2023-10am-utc/ ) where we also launched the Final Report. Enhancing Research Culture - Empowering People’s Voices Our member Warwick University, continues to support INWES and after the 2022 project Reimagining STEM Culture, they are continuing with a second project, featuring INWES senior members. https://warwick.ac.uk/fac/sci/eng/research/enhancing_research_culture/empowering_peoples_voices/ 7. The New Board of Directors for 2024-26 We would like you to meet all the people on the Board of Directors, elected at the AGM held at ICWES19, for the term 2024-26. A brief outline to all the BOD is below and includes an introduction to Yumiko Nagoh, our Communications Committee Chair.
- At the 19th Annual General Meeting (AGM 19) held in conjunction with ICWES 19 in September 2023, Fifteen new Board members were elected. We will continue to work together on 2024-2026, utilizing online meetings. I, Yumiko Nagoh, am from JNWES(Japan) in APNN, succeeding my predecessor Aguri Nakano. It's a great honor for me, and I am excited about the future activity. I will do my best to develop a simple yet attractive publicity.
